The Urban League of Broward County had a simple idea – how can we join forces with other organizations to create a movement that would concentrate on voter education, community dialogue and political accountability? The answer was Broward Votes.

Broward Votes is a non-partisan joint initiative created to empower residents to be well-informed voters. The initiative is a collaboration of many organizations to include, but not limited to: The Urban League of Broward County and its Young Professionals Network, The 100 Black Men of Greater Ft. Lauderdale, The Jamaican Diaspora of Southern United States, The National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE) South Florida Chapter, T.J. Reddick Bar Association, The Caribbean Bar Association, The National Coalition of Black Civic Participation, South Florida Times, and South Florida Caribbean News.

As a new initiative, Broward Votes has been welcomed into the arena of political discourse as a legitimate venture to assist in promoting dialogue about key issues facing urban communities in Broward County, including housing, safety, education, employment , health and business development – just to name few.

At present, Broward Votes has focused its efforts on selected local, state and federal races. Broward Votes will use several means to engage and inform the community, including candidate debates, interactive website, political forums and informational brochures.

We welcome additional organizations to partner with us by sending an email to: info@browardvotes.com!
